Research and Development Manager Magnus Engholm, Fiber Optic Valley and researcher Lars Norin, Acreo are invited as speakers at Photonics West. The event is the world’s largest and leading trade fair in photonics, laser and biomedical optics and takes place between
23 and 28 January at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.
Magnus and Lars have done research in the field of fiber lasers, which are used for material processing for example cutting, welding and marking of steel, sheet metal or plastic. Their research has resulted in fiber optics that are significantly more durable, which opens up for new industrial fiber optic applications not possible so far. One example is the manufacture of solar cells. The results have attracted great interest around the world such as the invitation to speak at Photonics West, a request from the Scientific Committee of the exhibition.
In recent years, Magnus and Lars have produced several articles on the subject. During last year’s fair, which attracted almost 18 000 visitors, their articles where quoted 15 times.
